</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This morning, it was 10 degrees when I left for work, and I was extra bundled-up, with my scarf, gloves and winter coat. The wind was blowing and it was COLD. Very cold. Dallas heated up my car before I left for work, but there were still ice crystals on my windshield when I arrived. Brrr! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I love winter. But, mostly for two reasons- Christmas, a celebration of my Savior's birth, and SNOW! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Lynchburg had it's first snow of the season last weekend, on December 4th. That's the earliest I've ever experienced snow, and it definitely caught me by surprise. Snow is like a birthday and Christmas present tied up in a beautiful bow delivered especially for me. I.LOVE.SNOW. Like an it-brings-tears-to-my-eyes kind of love. So when I saw the first flake fall on Saturday while Dallas and I were eating lunch, I could only muster a "SNOW!" before I jumped out of my chair and glued my face to the window. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Only about an inch of snow actually stuck on the ground, but it was beautiful to watch the snow fall and exciting to see where it stuck. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisDVuKdZB4cvyy61MqR2rRZMIDhblnQ4YagU5OYSy-kHa9X0BIBTWLkMEJEy8-5hxLGtv-2Jtg0DwsoEloKrGRlQpXdEPL3e3ZHvdKqCOG2zsKVx0S9TcsQckKmlwsn1-LHkfFUzFHTiM/s1600/Snow-+Leaves.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisDVuKdZB4cvyy61MqR2rRZMIDhblnQ4YagU5OYSy-kHa9X0BIBTWLkMEJEy8-5hxLGtv-2Jtg0DwsoEloKrGRlQpXdEPL3e3ZHvdKqCOG2zsKVx0S9TcsQckKmlwsn1-LHkfFUzFHTiM/s400/Snow-+Leaves.jpg" width="300" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7hIcdv4_GBLDdfWmBnaxnPTzwmmR7TkCg8y1Qx6ZysCS4WiS6rGUigsS7Q9LG-orqXVCaMyQvOcWgRIViX0i7mEzbQ9aO9QWMKibYyXpFXDmeRP6AP0FOexiTEUatsj6HVHIR3fK8Hz8/s1600/Snow-Car.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7hIcdv4_GBLDdfWmBnaxnPTzwmmR7TkCg8y1Qx6ZysCS4WiS6rGUigsS7Q9LG-orqXVCaMyQvOcWgRIViX0i7mEzbQ9aO9QWMKibYyXpFXDmeRP6AP0FOexiTEUatsj6HVHIR3fK8Hz8/s400/Snow-Car.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Unfortunately, it wasn't enough snow to shut things down, and most of the snow had melted away by Sunday morning. So, Dallas and I headed off to church, where we were surprised with a going-away luncheon in our honor! Our Lynchburg church family has been so sweet to us during our time here and have blessed us with so much, but especially parties, parties, parties. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They made a cake for us, and had us pose for wedding-style "cutting the cake" pictures.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I wish I had a picture of our paparazzi. Hilarious. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvSl3vx_D2wkROScyBy07cpalVQWR3eGJH8KeUY6X-kUXZM3QmuW-KA1l9bu3yEG8dTZx_MbuTGNqGOaENNqQMW1w9yS2hHYZUGpcScRYT0rpytWReQ_MoZ5p4Ay2P1xR3c8md8ceybTQ/s1600/Cake+Cutting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvSl3vx_D2wkROScyBy07cpalVQWR3eGJH8KeUY6X-kUXZM3QmuW-KA1l9bu3yEG8dTZx_MbuTGNqGOaENNqQMW1w9yS2hHYZUGpcScRYT0rpytWReQ_MoZ5p4Ay2P1xR3c8md8ceybTQ/s400/Cake+Cutting.jpg" width="295" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">On Monday night, I had free tickets to the last Liberty Hockey game of the year. Dallas LOVES hockey, so he was super excited about our last Liberty sporting event. Liberty was playing Virginia Tech, so our office gave out tons of free tickets. I invited 29 people to the game! We even invited our English classes, and 3 of our students joined us. It was really fun to watch the game through their eyes and to answer their funny questions about the game of hockey. They could not understand why the guys were allowed to knock each other over and why everyone was cheering for the White team. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WROADIPJeWiXxm_w0G8xHHK78-yHcnmAE3u55nW3U4Kzgm4IcPegJC1YxMN1yMgyX5QZ4SpMGCwDmJiGD6EU3wBm8fv3mkB1G6d1P29VlHHSw7UdJXkQ-8wRSn7aLvE6XQNOdfHaIO4/s1600/Hockey+Game.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_WROADIPJeWiXxm_w0G8xHHK78-yHcnmAE3u55nW3U4Kzgm4IcPegJC1YxMN1yMgyX5QZ4SpMGCwDmJiGD6EU3wBm8fv3mkB1G6d1P29VlHHSw7UdJXkQ-8wRSn7aLvE6XQNOdfHaIO4/s400/Hockey+Game.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We are getting really excited about our big move to Georgia, but we will definitely be sad to leave our Lynchburg friends behind. I will always look back on our time here with fond memories and remember all of the people who crossed our paths. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Thank you to all of you who have made Lynchburg feel like home!</div><br />

And sorry for my absence. I haven't felt much like blogging lately. Writers block? Maybe. Laziness? Probably.<br />
<br />
A TON has happened since I last updated you, so bear with me through this post.<br />
<br />
<b>We celebrated Dallas' 27th birthday. </b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>We dressed up like Bolivians and won a costume contest. </b><br />
<b><br />
</b><br />
<b>We have a big surprise to share!</b><br />
<br />
On Thursday night, our English classes had a "surprise" party for Dallas. It wasn't a huge surprise, considering they had just had a surprise party for me, three weeks earlier, but it was so nice of them to organize a party for Dallas.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0VALGk7sK8kZzwGSQSR1b21w8BoVtA2BRkWmdZ8_obcQj_IDeCBnqZ1TmTW6Yo5JMek11cT1WcSyrw7sR4i3-6iFsBfbUDUbeacrhRh-879YX79hYsP9DYjaZXbq6JQxwoEOeRReYjU/s1600/Dallas+BDay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR0VALGk7sK8kZzwGSQSR1b21w8BoVtA2BRkWmdZ8_obcQj_IDeCBnqZ1TmTW6Yo5JMek11cT1WcSyrw7sR4i3-6iFsBfbUDUbeacrhRh-879YX79hYsP9DYjaZXbq6JQxwoEOeRReYjU/s400/Dallas+BDay.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Our students held on to their Latin American roots, </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">and smashed Dallas' face in the cake after he blew out his candles. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Our sweet classes mean so much to us and our students have become like our families while we've been in Lynchburg. They are all hilarious, and I have a blast each time we're together.<br />
<br />
On Sunday, our Hispanic church had a Thanksgiving celebration. They asked everyone to bring food from their home countries and to come dressed in your county's traditional clothing. Dallas and I chose to join the "Bolivia group," as that is where Dallas grew up. The plan was for us to bring fried bananas, but we failed miserably, and ended up bringing drinks instead.<br />
<br />
We did, however, find some pretty awesome costumes, and we were the winners of the costume contest! I had to steal these pictures from Facebook, so they aren't the best.<br />
<br />

As you can tell, Dallas and I took the contest a little more seriously than everyone else...but we had a great time dressing up and we were definitely a big hit!<br />
<br />
And the biggest news of all...<br />
<br />
<b>WE'RE MOVING!!</b><br />
<br />
Dallas and I were both offered jobs in Gainesville, Georgia, and so we will be heading back to my hometown in December! Dallas will be working full-time at the Gainesville Airport as an Aviation Mechanic/Pilot and I will be working at a missions organization called Adventures in Missions, helping to organize mission trips for churches and youth groups.<br />
<br />
I have really grown to love Lynchburg, but I am so thrilled to be moving back to be closer to my family. It will be fabulous to have a shopping buddy again, an auction to go to, big cities nearby and a large home church. I can't wait for weekly family dinners and monthly craft days!<br />
<br />
God has opened so many doors for us in this move, and we think we have found a wonderful place to live! We are not in a position right now to buy a house of our own, but we have found the most adorable house that has been on the market, that the owner is willing to rent to us!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhssR2ENGFvhUD2IOla3vkFDIvYGGUa9lrkYNhZmsbiNBxYV3fukBmz57tusOo9OzCIDv5ZgW64BPORVwSKV0XzWGqZt8bAr8f-UmnfcYsWv7QNwMwe0T4PEU16UClkDZLs-DMmCKQRWdA/s1600/House.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhssR2ENGFvhUD2IOla3vkFDIvYGGUa9lrkYNhZmsbiNBxYV3fukBmz57tusOo9OzCIDv5ZgW64BPORVwSKV0XzWGqZt8bAr8f-UmnfcYsWv7QNwMwe0T4PEU16UClkDZLs-DMmCKQRWdA/s400/House.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Picture from movoto.com</td></tr>
</tbody></table>We actually haven't seen the house in person, but my family has gone to see it several times and we are scheduled to look at it this Friday. From the pictures I have seen and from what my family has said, this will be the perfect place for me and Dallas. It has 3 bed rooms (1 will be my craft room!), 1.5 bathrooms, a basement, a garage, a dining room, and a huge yard! I hope and pray that this house works out for us, and I can't wait to move in!<br />
<br />
So, life is a tad crazy for us right now. We're packing up all of our things here in Lynchburg and looking forward to our new life in Gainesville. We have a ton to finish up here, Christmas parties galore and Dallas will graduate from his program! We also have to say goodbye to many good friends, find someone to take over our English classes and repaint the walls in our townhouse. But, it's all done with excitement as we prepare for our new life in Gainesville.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to see what adventures the future holds!<br />

<br />
My birthday was a few weeks back and my parents gave me some money to spend on anything I wanted. My first thought was to buy clothes or a few little things, but thing I had a revelation! I could either buy several little doodads or one big fabulous gift! I began scouring the internet for something that I couldn't live without. I decided upon this little gem.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/public/EYgUEZGu2PmI0uFzSAuL1rxK9VVNz8fOHz8NL1-EOqsFl1jihK3Ds6eEsgTNrHvCcX2ef3Jcle3TWKhYcowCIvIhsXz-YitX5i0LXs12mywIolp4yhsvsbvigcrnQBs5wDX4yCbeBPn_WACHNbFg4NHxB1Zo4Avq1AWdshzR0a1vO29Qq5A" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Brother 50-Stitch Limited Edition Project Runway Sewing Machine," border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/public/EYgUEZGu2PmI0uFzSAuL1rxK9VVNz8fOHz8NL1-EOqsFl1jihK3Ds6eEsgTNrHvCcX2ef3Jcle3TWKhYcowCIvIhsXz-YitX5i0LXs12mywIolp4yhsvsbvigcrnQBs5wDX4yCbeBPn_WACHNbFg4NHxB1Zo4Avq1AWdshzR0a1vO29Qq5A" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">A new sewing machine!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">And not just any old machine. No! I have none other than a special edition Project Runway machine! (Which probably doesn't mean anything besides the fact that it has a sticker on the side that says Project Runway.) In college, my roomie <a href="http://mmmwhatchasay.blogspot.com/">Rachel </a>and I would watch Project Runway religiously. I loved watching these geniuses turning piles of trash (literally!) into expertly crafted ball gowns. It filled my head with creative ideas, none of which I have ever been able to recreate- until now, I hope! (Except, don't get me wrong, I have no intentions of wearing a trash gown to my next event!)</div><br />
So, what have I made so far? Absolutely nothing! Besides a few holes I have mended, here and there. BUT, I do have great plans for some awesome projects.<br />
<br />
<br />

I often stare out my window in amazement of all that God has created. Each mountain top points towards God and each tree stretches towards heaven. It truly is a awe inspiring view. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">...Until the vultures come out. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">What vultures you may ask? </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The towing vultures. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2-mjF-rSc8U0R3A9_oQEQ4FPvCgzGwzSyDwYPswFPO-pExIxszEvGcyne5BOZIvPRX2E31kXweAi7nMoUHkNfCT7q2RXaxsX_cCERwii-2tLDYhj-60bNaHjCZGb7agRIV-B7tk9JF3Q/s1600/Vultures.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2-mjF-rSc8U0R3A9_oQEQ4FPvCgzGwzSyDwYPswFPO-pExIxszEvGcyne5BOZIvPRX2E31kXweAi7nMoUHkNfCT7q2RXaxsX_cCERwii-2tLDYhj-60bNaHjCZGb7agRIV-B7tk9JF3Q/s640/Vultures.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have never in my life seen as many tow trucks as I do DAILY from outside my window. These vultures descend on the parking lot below my window and scoop up 2 cars at a time. They then drag them away to some obscure lot, where the poor owner will be forced to hand over a wad of cash in exchange for their vehicle, only after they come to the realization that they have been victimized by the vultures. Then the vultures return to their feeding ground once again to continue their frenzy. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And we must have an overly crowded parking lot, right? WRONG. There are plenty of free spaces begging to be filled. But only the cars adorned with the "special" tags are safe to park here. I, for one, am not that special, and must park a mile (I <i>may</i> be exaggerating, just a bit!) away and drag myself into the office each day, as I do not dare provoke the vultures. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So my friends, be careful where you park. And please, watch out for vultures! </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

And my favorite part? Dressing up. I am a costume kind of girl. I have been involved with theater since I was in the 4th Grade and the costumes are definitely my favorite part. I know I said in <a href="http://loewenlove.blogspot.com/2010/10/whatll-owl-be.html">this post</a> that I was planning to be an owl this year, but we ran out of time and I wasn't able to get everything together to make the costume. So, my back up?<br />

We even won the costume contest for "Best Group Costume." Definitely a fun Halloween and a pretty good costume, if I do say so myself.<br />

He is currently stationed in Germany, which makes it quite difficult for us to visit with him. Lucky for us, Troy made plans to visit us in Virginia while he was in the US for some training. He was supposed to arrive on Friday, but his plans changed and he surprised us with an early arrival on Thursday. After work, Dallas and I met Troy at the airport and made our way to our house (which was a disaster zone- more on that in a later post!). Troy was nice enough to help us move our furniture back into place and to help redecorate a little, so I wouldn't feel like a bad hostess.<br />
<br />
We decided to eat a quick dinner at Chick-Fil-A before our English classes and Troy was more than happy to reconnect with his Southern roots over a fried chicken sandwich and a sweeeeet tea. It had been way too long since we last sat across from this face.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCpqAp46S3wGGS4BkTYcQnaA9WSN5UQgBqciLzhF7ft1BLHQSd8-yR5SlhgJyWVfttYv96o6bmjHT1mnyTU6hkJ5agwy141H4D7Hb3a0XLLZ_sHJDen4NEmWKFF3SXhy82yQBUE34K7G4/s1600/Troy-+Chicfila.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCpqAp46S3wGGS4BkTYcQnaA9WSN5UQgBqciLzhF7ft1BLHQSd8-yR5SlhgJyWVfttYv96o6bmjHT1mnyTU6hkJ5agwy141H4D7Hb3a0XLLZ_sHJDen4NEmWKFF3SXhy82yQBUE34K7G4/s400/Troy-+Chicfila.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
We then drove to our English classes, where we played a homemade version of Catch Phrase, which my students seem to enjoy and I think is hilarious. My students were all really excited to meet Troy. After class, it was Office and 30 Rock night and then we hit the sack early because Dallas and I both had work/class the next morning.<br />
<br />
Friday, Dallas and I were both able to leave work early in order to hang out with our special guest. We picked Troy up from our house (where he'd been camping out all day) and made our way out for a tour of the great city of Lynchburg. Our first stop was Liberty's Snowflex, our year-round ski slope.<br />
<br />

</div>We then went out to dinner at my new FAVORITE restaurant, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/rivermontpizza?v=wall">Rivermont Pizza</a>. They have the most delicious pizza with this green sauce on top that is to DIE for! It's not a pesto sauce, but I'm not quite sure what it is, other than fabulous. We then went home and had one mad Wii competition and some crab on a roller-skate (I think you had to be there to fully comprehend this madness).<br />
<br />
Saturday morning we woke up early for a delicious egg breakfast prepared by my true love. Then we headed out and up the mountain towards <a href="http://www.johnsonsorchards.com/">Johnson's Orchard</a>. Supposedly, the leaves were in their peak color on this day and the mountains were absolutely beautiful! We arrived at the orchard just in time for some fun with Easy Cheese and the Devil.<br />
<br />

If you've never been to Johnson's Orchard, you can't understand how redneck and yet awesome this place really is. And if you ever do visit, and they ask you to "Kiss the Devil," you may want to think twice. The "Devil" is a cooking wine that is beyond spicy. The three of us brave souls took a sip...a suffered the consequences.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">After we made it home, the boys made hamburgers on the grill before we made our way to the Liberty hockey game, where Liberty was playing Kennesaw State. As rivals with GCSU when I was in college, I was happy to watch as we smeared Kennesaw to a 14-0 win. I actually felt really sorry for the Kennesaw guys, because they couldn't even get one goal! But, I didn't feel too bad when several fights broke out on the ice. That is the only reason I go to hockey games. We had a wonderful time with Troy and we feel so honored that he chose to spend his time with us. I hope he had as much fun with us as we had with him. We love you Troy!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It all started on Saturday with a lovely and peaceful trip up the mountains to the Apple Harvest Festival in Bedford, VA. Dallas and I rode up with our friends Laura and Hunter and it was great to see the beautiful fall leaves and taste some yummy fall treats. Dallas and I were even able to stir the apple butter, which was boiling in a kettle. I did such a good job, the old man to my right told me I would grow up to be a brain surgeon! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCx_6WFMdSWisQ75hUwD-i5iK-2FUX1lt024ZGYWI_8Hi67HgsONcO3OjYirQcquAOH0urKKL-3HFbzo1-m8xoNmmr8Y3KZZJBsosZtl-svJim3zNF5gLlGIjjWad8b0pu_I5Z-DY0EH4/s1600/Butter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCx_6WFMdSWisQ75hUwD-i5iK-2FUX1lt024ZGYWI_8Hi67HgsONcO3OjYirQcquAOH0urKKL-3HFbzo1-m8xoNmmr8Y3KZZJBsosZtl-svJim3zNF5gLlGIjjWad8b0pu_I5Z-DY0EH4/s400/Butter.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">But...in the midst of our blissful day things were in turmoil back at our house. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I opened our front door to find this... a puddle of water at our doorway. Where was it coming from? Oh yes, the TOILET. The toilet that is through the living room and down the hall. And let's just say the water wasn't this clear in all areas of the living room. It.was.GROSS. And smelly. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNtMdp-ONCRlig6PG9hTwesosiVS9n8hgeuFniZdHLpJ7vs-XrXJnEuocOuKYwJQly3flShpZo-Z4CKpUyR9bmuZJjXg7Z79g9Tigk7eqIrI_pjW88mAN24ZHP88-BOz5L3U2Y1CxPyPM/s1600/Door.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNtMdp-ONCRlig6PG9hTwesosiVS9n8hgeuFniZdHLpJ7vs-XrXJnEuocOuKYwJQly3flShpZo-Z4CKpUyR9bmuZJjXg7Z79g9Tigk7eqIrI_pjW88mAN24ZHP88-BOz5L3U2Y1CxPyPM/s400/Door.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

The same thing was happening next door at our neighbor's house, and luckily, they were home at the time. They called the landlord right away who came out and turned off our water and made sure none of our electronics were getting wet. They then left us for the night in a stinky, wet house. Since then, we have been living like squatters; eating, sleeping and watching TV in the bedroom.<br />
<br />
Tuesday, they finally came out and ripped up the poo-stained carpet and laid new tiles in the entryway and the bathroom, but still no flooring in the living room.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFdD8DYf8Ca3AQ3dtzWs0w3gG7KhTAYjyTk9KoxYwz_2rydeVQhnnO5D5gG-vUHnGNP2f9wyt4CoGTAd1oWLlPgROPniRRkYvnP4dfWTEVISnA3yyDHIb2SmDwLQheOtL-eSMYTkO7IXA/s1600/Floor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFdD8DYf8Ca3AQ3dtzWs0w3gG7KhTAYjyTk9KoxYwz_2rydeVQhnnO5D5gG-vUHnGNP2f9wyt4CoGTAd1oWLlPgROPniRRkYvnP4dfWTEVISnA3yyDHIb2SmDwLQheOtL-eSMYTkO7IXA/s400/Floor.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Dallas called the landlady early today and received great news! Our new floor is being put in today! And to top it all off, they are putting down hardwood flooring. Isn't it ironic? I've been asking all year for our landlords to have our carpets cleaned. Now, not only will I have clean floors, but I will have hardwood floors!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> All it took was a little poo-poo to get the job done! </div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></div><br />
<br />
I can't decide what to be for Halloween. I LOVE Halloween. It's one of my favorite holidays. And my favorite part of my favorite holiday? The costumes, of course!<br />
<br />
Dallas and I have been through many options for our costumes this year. We typically like for our costumes to relate to each other. We've been Peter Pan and Wendy, and Pumpkin and Pi (the Greek symbol), but we've also been random costumes like, Jim from the Office and a cockroach, a ghost and Deb from Napoleon Dynamite.<br />
<br />
We started the season this year planning to be the Mad Hatter and Alice. But, I lost my passion for that one. It just seemed like too much work. Actually, during the winter Olympics, I was set on being Apollo Ohno for Halloween, but I didn't really get a lot of support on that one! I don't think Dallas was too keen on having a wife with a soul patch.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://athletesandtwitter.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/apolo-source_4mx.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://athletesandtwitter.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/apolo-source_4mx.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Picture from <a href="http://athletesandtwitter.wordpress.com/">here</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>But then it HIT me! My new favorite thing right now is....OWLS! And what better way to pay tribute to my feathered friends then by turning into one for Halloween! I did a bit of research, and of all the owl costumes out there, I think this costume might be the easiest to make, while looking like an actual owl.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_N9Pl5-Mz4d4/Ste2sm-XJiI/AAAAAAAAA-I/-UpG3GouiuA/Owl_Halloween_costume%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_N9Pl5-Mz4d4/Ste2sm-XJiI/AAAAAAAAA-I/-UpG3GouiuA/Owl_Halloween_costume%5B6%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Picture from <a href="http://blueberryjunkie.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html">here</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>There are several parts to this costume that I don't have, (The eyes are made from pot scrubbers and the nose is a finger from a black rubber glove!), but hopefully I will be able to improvise and pull it all together before the big day!<br />
<br />
So, what about you? What is your Halloween costume going to be?<br />

It was quite impressive and the crowd was HUGE. Liberty loooves it's football, and the new stadiums definitely proves that! It was really fun to cheer on my team and be at a college football game again!<br />

They were out on Fall Break, and our schedules held us here, so Lynchburg it was! We did a lot of exploring of this grand city of ours, and true to our nature, we ate or way around the city. Sunday afternoon, after church, we headed out to a pumpkin patch, where we saw some beautiful and unusual pumpkins, and I dreamed of a house full of these Fall wonders.<br />

Being the sweet-spirit that he is, he wanted to share his heritage with his classmates (or maybe rub it in their faces that he is Canadian?). Whatever his reasoning, Dallas decided that the best way to do this would be to make Canadian themed cupcakes, of course, with red velvet cake and butter cream frosting! </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNnFtkiPufJ6RHlbJSzxJKKwNmmbrFqc_F7Y0yt7lo4tYeKeyJTgoO9q8rWVSuLN1ndSfgSAYSBzxDgRTJLWpUiREoPkWuZfzahVBPeV3vknN3dltuf7fRMkquDKyd0KN4_HQj6prztRY/s1600/Canadian+Thanksgiving.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNnFtkiPufJ6RHlbJSzxJKKwNmmbrFqc_F7Y0yt7lo4tYeKeyJTgoO9q8rWVSuLN1ndSfgSAYSBzxDgRTJLWpUiREoPkWuZfzahVBPeV3vknN3dltuf7fRMkquDKyd0KN4_HQj6prztRY/s400/Canadian+Thanksgiving.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We had a Canadian Thanksgiving Dinner at work last week, and they had these little flags at each place setting. Dallas went around after the event and collected all of the leftovers to use on his cupcakes. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">They perfect for our cupcakes! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canucks out there! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Even if you are a non-Canadian (like me!), I hope you have a very happy day.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> And I hope you remember to be thankful. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Because we have a LOT to be thankful for. </div><br />

<br />
I had forgotten how great and magical is really is. Ahh, the air is so crisp and cool. And it just feels clean and so refreshing. I love watching the leaves out my window as they are beginning change from their summer greens to their fall yellows, oranges and reds. Fall is just a wonderful time of year.<br />
<br />
Last weekend, Dallas and I packed up and headed down to Georgia to spend some time with our families. My birthday is October 28th, and although it was almost a month away, we figured that we would not be traveling home any time around my actual birthday, so we decided to celebrate it now! My family planned a fun day for me, filled with nail salons, shopping bags and hayrides!<br />
<br />
We ate a birthday dinner at my parent's house and my sister, Rebekah and her boyfriend, Mark, joined us. My parents loaded me up with gifts and it was super fun to be the birthday girl again!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAkvmOYpHpRPtz3dDvzwd_beee2a-AKY1w7i50Kco0y7cQQXWlb9W-uA-o-W_lNhvKvIO439DTbdU3EvWHMmNrH7fEDO91nzSU25-4fKEF7SDta8E0lRhLH7DKBlVNo2zt-DxkHlBbFBY/s1600/Birthday+Gifts.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAkvmOYpHpRPtz3dDvzwd_beee2a-AKY1w7i50Kco0y7cQQXWlb9W-uA-o-W_lNhvKvIO439DTbdU3EvWHMmNrH7fEDO91nzSU25-4fKEF7SDta8E0lRhLH7DKBlVNo2zt-DxkHlBbFBY/s400/Birthday+Gifts.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We then bundled up and headed out to Uncle Shuck's, which consisted of a corn-mazes, a <i>haunted </i>corn-maze, a hayride, a bonfire (with marshmallows to roast!), a goat farm (? I know, strange), and a corn shooter. Basically, it was a Fall Wonderland!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I had such a fabulous weekend, and it just reminded me of what an awesome family I have, and what an incredible God we serve. I hope you are also enjoying this cooler weather and have family and friends that you can share it with.<br />
<br />
Have an great Friday and a wonderful weekend!<br />

We've actually won a few of our games, despite being younger and smaller than most of the other teams in our league. The one thing that we struggle with is practices. Have you ever tried to get a group of 3 year olds to do organized drills? Not the easiest thing to do. So, being the <i>mean</i> and <i>serious</i> coach that I am, I let my little cuties play "birdies" as they sat on their "eggs" and waited for them to hatch.<br />
<br />

I guess this will help them with their ball handling skills??? <br />

No promises, but hopefully I'll <s>have </s>make time to do some updates! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, what have I been up to?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Our English classes are going VERY well. I am so proud of my students, and they are all working very hard to master our confusing language. Seriously, they ask me questions all the time about <i>why </i>English words are pronounced a certain way, when they are spelled another. I just have to say that English doesn't make sense.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> We had our first English conversation night, and we declared it an English only night. We ate dinner and played games, all in English. We also asked our students to invite their American or English speaking friends, so we had a few visitors who helped keep the conversations going. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> My friend Ana, who works with me at Liberty, has recently become one of my good friends. Her mom is in Dallas' English class and her son is our our soccer team, so I see her every day of the week. If only I could think of something to teach Ana, it could be a whole family affair! She was a big help at our conversation night and is a big encouragement to her mom to practice her English! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm6LK-MFy5By4vH4XFbrGG4hKRI8V1bVPfADgMyQq5N9inCKdgIwMI1-Cd-oqhe-JSgri5TzIvcbo8J5BgE1WYUGdsw6wieW7XJz0iBm5QI9zziRcAJkoAhlh5OXr_-xO3haWUXMMlYBo/s1600/Emily+and+Ana.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm6LK-MFy5By4vH4XFbrGG4hKRI8V1bVPfADgMyQq5N9inCKdgIwMI1-Cd-oqhe-JSgri5TzIvcbo8J5BgE1WYUGdsw6wieW7XJz0iBm5QI9zziRcAJkoAhlh5OXr_-xO3haWUXMMlYBo/s400/Emily+and+Ana.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Our little soccer team, the Panthers, is made up of 3 and 4 year olds. We are the Tots League. Seriously, these games are hilarious. I have never seen more tears in my life, as my players get upset about falling down, not having the ball, the other team scoring, wanting to go to the playground. You name it, they cry about it. But, they are so adorable, and a few are actually pretty good at soccer. I don't know the first thing about soccer, so I'm there mostly for moral support. I make cute name tags, Dallas makes sure we score.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGWrE0DfpuAXVHAFZa836M0G18fdu0caICQLbJVCT8u3vXm6Mb6RHNi_z26luA31hWIEc8dW3r3qbpwGiz0pYPbJfprkma85JAJbTGDK7fnQG_GUsPG8ZXs-ysCdnUmlgJZVzIeRXTxsU/s1600/Soccer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGWrE0DfpuAXVHAFZa836M0G18fdu0caICQLbJVCT8u3vXm6Mb6RHNi_z26luA31hWIEc8dW3r3qbpwGiz0pYPbJfprkma85JAJbTGDK7fnQG_GUsPG8ZXs-ysCdnUmlgJZVzIeRXTxsU/s400/Soccer.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

</div>Dallas and I have also found a new coffee shop in town, called, The Muse. We went on a "date night" and discovered this delicious shop, where they will mix up any combination of flavors that you like. I had a white chocolate latte with peppermint flavoring and Dallas had some strong coffee drink that I thought was gross, but he liked, of course. We found a quiet corner in the loft of the coffee shop and played a mean game of Dominoes. (I don't think we every really figured out how to play!) I was great to spend some quiet time with my hubs.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLoV3_kcom_69L1ohk3RFGeHQu6FE_z3VanOpSSV-jfTXCZUynEpXq1nSIQBywME1Axuhig7F27kuHIgD6lmdoODBjsa9YOQcl53isD1n2ruZYujoRlB1E5aVKhwn1JssLSxpRmDHXbpc/s1600/Dominoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLoV3_kcom_69L1ohk3RFGeHQu6FE_z3VanOpSSV-jfTXCZUynEpXq1nSIQBywME1Axuhig7F27kuHIgD6lmdoODBjsa9YOQcl53isD1n2ruZYujoRlB1E5aVKhwn1JssLSxpRmDHXbpc/s400/Dominoes.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
And last, but not least, a rainbow. Yesterday we had a big thunderstorm, with tons of lightening and 3 power outages. And after the storm? A beautiful rainbow! It made a complete arch, which I failed to photograph, but was very exciting. I did manage to get these shots of one end.<br />
<br />

My boss had suggested we go to Hog Camp Gap, a trail up the mountains through an old hog farm, in order to see some beautiful views of the Allegheny Mountains. I knew Dallas would be thrilled to be out in the wilderness, so we loaded up a picnic and headed for the hills.<br />

I love to find good deals, bargains, thrifts and fleas. It's in my blood. Nothing excites me more than a good deal. And trash day has become one of my favorite days of the week, because my neighbors 'got good trash!'<br />
<br />
The other day, I was driving home from work when something in my neighbor's trash pile caught my eye. Two Ikea chairs! I quickly drove home and convinced Dallas to come help me dig through the trash and check out the situation. The chairs were dirty, stained and wet, but were sturdy and had good bones. We lugged them into our kitchen, where they stayed while I took the chairs apart, and washed and bleached the seat covers multiple times. The covers were mostly clean but were still a little stained, so I left them out in the sun for a few good hours and they were bleached right out! I put the chairs back together, and they were perfect!<br />

A few days later....SOLD! For $55! I made $55 on chairs I found in someone's trash pile. I guess it's true what they say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure!"<br />

<br />
This morning, my boss wanted to know what was on her schedule for tomorrow. I carefully went over her schedule with her, only to be told that tomorrow is Friday, not Thursday. So, I guess that makes today Thursday. Crazy. This week fleeeew by. Yes! One step closer to Friday!<br />
<br />
My English classes are going G.R.E.A.T.! I have a class with 5 adult students and they are working very hard. It is so fun to be in a teaching role again, and to watch as my students finally understand a language they have been trying to learn for so long. Some for over 20 years! Plus, my students have recently begun to show their appreciation by bringing me meals from their country. Talk about delicious! We had a cilantro rice and chicken dish from Peru last week, and tonight, Colombian food is on the menu! Also, one of the students in Dallas' class has invited us over for dinner on Friday night, so we have been richly blessed by our wonderful students. Yum!<br />
<br />
There are NO outlet malls near my house. This just occurred to me, and it STINKS. I have a great coupon I would like to use, but I have nowhere to cash it in. The nearest outlet mall is 3 hours from us, which is just too far to drive to save a buck or two. If you live near an outlet mall, consider yourself lucky.<br />
<br />
I can not wait until Fall. I am so looking forward to crisp, cool air, football games, cookouts, not sweating to death as I walk to my car (because that's the ONLY place I'm walking in this heat!), festivals, apples, camping and BIRTHDAYS! Dallas and I both have Fall birthdays, as does my sister and all of my cousins. Fall is such a time of celebration and gathering together as a family. Which I could definitely use a little more of!<br />
<br />
Obviously, my brain is filled with jumbles of thoughts, but thanks for hanging in there with me!<br />
<br />
<br />
I hope you all have a wonderful day, and remember....tomorrow is FRIDAY! <br />

Our progression towards making our own pizza began when Dallas and I were first married. We made it a point to have a pizza night every Sunday night throughout our first year of marriage. (I suppose this is where my "marriage weight" came from!) We started out buying frozen pizzas (yuck!) and we would doctor them up by adding toppings of our own. We then moved up to "crust in a bag" pizzas and began making our own dough by adding water to this pre-made mix. We researched different sauce recipes and found two sauces that are oh, so delicious, but continued to use our mixed-up dough. When we grew tired of this paper-thin crust, we began trying out different homemade pizza dough recipes, to go with our new sauces. Bingo! We found the perfect recipe, and began making our very own, made from scratch pizzas! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Each time we make pizza, we do it a little bit different than the time before, but here is one of my favorite combinations.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I first roast some fresh veggies. I like tomatoes, onion and mushrooms, but you can add whatever you like!</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I just cut up the vegetables, spray them with a little olive oil, and sprinkle them with salt. Then put them in the oven until they are nice and soft. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinIJ2SJmKS_cf7-zp2YuCl7h2wStgCQqRILq57mMYAH91qnF5z1YNR2RGJQv0zzLpMwHxBDIKIOM0bW9myFAlj2Hs6UqSM2PugrJ50Y8-RBX2x8iY62fFMVZ8mmyKtyj1fJMaKNpMrpxU/s1600/Tomatoes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinIJ2SJmKS_cf7-zp2YuCl7h2wStgCQqRILq57mMYAH91qnF5z1YNR2RGJQv0zzLpMwHxBDIKIOM0bW9myFAlj2Hs6UqSM2PugrJ50Y8-RBX2x8iY62fFMVZ8mmyKtyj1fJMaKNpMrpxU/s400/Tomatoes.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQO5q13zn8fLNcdMK463liy-sjh9Euy0fVdpKct7Y9sTnKlI8cwDn7bcg_3XoCErC5aJ5J38i0un9AFxv8pKe83YD2mB4tyvY8ZO7SbRdOaNEAMITarEyzU2iaLwBKr5A1LjXv8x00Fuc/s1600/Mushrooms.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQO5q13zn8fLNcdMK463liy-sjh9Euy0fVdpKct7Y9sTnKlI8cwDn7bcg_3XoCErC5aJ5J38i0un9AFxv8pKe83YD2mB4tyvY8ZO7SbRdOaNEAMITarEyzU2iaLwBKr5A1LjXv8x00Fuc/s400/Mushrooms.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The dough process is definitely the hardest, and that, my friend, is why this is Dallas' job. We use a recipe we found on AllRecipes.com called <a href="http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Jays-Signature-Pizza-Crust/Detail.aspx">Jay's Signature Pizza Crust</a>. This is a pretty strenuous process, and takes the better part of the afternoon...but it's ALWAYS worth it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3qX0KqPvS7G-7Jtt0pH5Uk5YH34IzoDFFJopbMfaiFx8KKdPFimzgfor-HSYXeOCKC5Qbf6UVPp5lORbasfPxLRgE5CpXjkzPqkIdV3OdrtX856m1D7W3Ipj9CCw8sa8065XToyVizzg/s1600/Pizza+Dough.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3qX0KqPvS7G-7Jtt0pH5Uk5YH34IzoDFFJopbMfaiFx8KKdPFimzgfor-HSYXeOCKC5Qbf6UVPp5lORbasfPxLRgE5CpXjkzPqkIdV3OdrtX856m1D7W3Ipj9CCw8sa8065XToyVizzg/s400/Pizza+Dough.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
While the dough is rising, we make one of our sauces. This week it was an olive oil base with basil and garlic.I then add lots, and LOTS of toppings! I like black and kalamata olives and feta cheese, as well as my roasted veggies and some spinach.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMZtuuhAUeMVPs03969nZ0fpNKDDaREpw34obeZf97kFfPGjmMhsUCVE3_a1Uzr9Ni8NMBjYzlSlxd-nWmbJ6XVmH5vKDT5ZxKwUDGR-0xmMeae4vABifkgztWWNRrMOy_4sCMkt-rZ5s/s1600/Pizza+with+Toppings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMZtuuhAUeMVPs03969nZ0fpNKDDaREpw34obeZf97kFfPGjmMhsUCVE3_a1Uzr9Ni8NMBjYzlSlxd-nWmbJ6XVmH5vKDT5ZxKwUDGR-0xmMeae4vABifkgztWWNRrMOy_4sCMkt-rZ5s/s400/Pizza+with+Toppings.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Then we top it all off with some delicious cheeses and pop it in the oven until it is browned and crispy. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcJo7OeZcof_FAOAwAYN56YvGzkncHb1VUvBr6dld7ywdvZGNXtS-BUE6KC1p7EShEdOMchQ8rJaDx3_x_lD3acDDicMLcxg3P3yR-QWuD7WHU-orevy7Qf9vCEZ7OkoEfbAbH7Aj5PIM/s1600/Pizza+with+Cheese.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcJo7OeZcof_FAOAwAYN56YvGzkncHb1VUvBr6dld7ywdvZGNXtS-BUE6KC1p7EShEdOMchQ8rJaDx3_x_lD3acDDicMLcxg3P3yR-QWuD7WHU-orevy7Qf9vCEZ7OkoEfbAbH7Aj5PIM/s400/Pizza+with+Cheese.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And Voila! You have a super delicious, homemade pizza! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmFkRu2YPeWsZHTHfKxlDMSi6t5brb3ATqqati7Nrkwr2-hikygFhmOGjsEIBlf8KAYHxSJ_wWgpN5yqqVo5IrULZavx_9yg2DeyjtLVI0TyW19MwSFs8KXzs2lePjV0xsbwdJgbD4f2o/s1600/Finished+Pizza.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmFkRu2YPeWsZHTHfKxlDMSi6t5brb3ATqqati7Nrkwr2-hikygFhmOGjsEIBlf8KAYHxSJ_wWgpN5yqqVo5IrULZavx_9yg2DeyjtLVI0TyW19MwSFs8KXzs2lePjV0xsbwdJgbD4f2o/s400/Finished+Pizza.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
And...being as domestic as we are, we topped it all off with some homemade strawberry ice cream for desert, using the strawberries we picked and posted about <a href="http://loewenlove.blogspot.com/2010/06/weekend-wonderland.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">Yum, yum! We then kicked back on the couch, turned on a good movie, and enjoyed the night! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I never realized how difficult and confusing it can be for visitors to jump through all of the "hoops" set up in the US. For example, Cristiane needed an apartment. I researched all of her options and found her a very nice apartment. Easy, right? Wrong. Because she is coming from overseas, the apartment needed a document of financial support, proving that she had the money to pay for her rent each month. This form had to be signed by her husband in Brazil, taken to their bank and notarized, then sent back to the apartment. And I had to explain all of this to Cristiane, who, maybe I didn't mention, is coming to the US to learn English. I have also helped her to buy a car, get car insurance, study for the driving test at the DMV, get medical insurance for her daughters, enroll her daughters in Middle School (which required a trip to the doctor's office for a physical and a new shot), furnish her apartment, buy food....and Much MUCH more.<br />
<br />
This has all made me very thankful for my network of friends and family who have helped me to do all of these things, and who have made life much easier for me! It has also made me much more sympathetic for our international student population and the difficulties that they face even <i>after</i> they arrive in the United States.<br />
Dallas and I have also begun teaching English through our Spanish church. We have been teaching for two weeks now, two times each week. We got off to a rough start, with a lack of communication about where the classes would be located and when we would meet. But, wouldn't you know, this week we have had a LOT of students! Last night we had almost 15! Dallas is teaching the lowest level students and I am teaching the higher students. I am having a BLAST! My students are mostly older adults, and they are hilarious. I am really enjoying this time, and I already feel like they are learning a lot.<br />
<br />
Last night, a woman in my class even shared the Gospel with another student, who is not a member of our church. It is awesome to see God working in so many different ways through these classes, and I believe that they will have a big impact on the lives of our students. Many of the students have even asked me if I would consider teaching <i>every </i>night of the week! (I kindly declined their offer...but maybe someone else would consider taking on these nights??)<br />
<br />
It is definitely cool to be able to reach people from Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Mexico all in one night! I guess this is what they mean by being a "Missionary in your own backyard!" It is awesome to be used by God, and this experience is helping to teach me to not feel that this is a time in my life when I am "on hold," but fully available and ready to be used by God.<br />
<br />
I hope you have a great day today, and a fabulous weekend!<br />

My life has been a little crazy lately (good crazy!), so this little blog of mine has definitely been neglected. Things have been super busy at work, with all of our International students preparing to arrive for the Fall semester. One of the students that I have been working with arrived last week from Brazil, and has been keeping me busy with all of the help she needs running errands and driving all around town until she is able to purchase her car. Although I have had to put in many long hours this week, I have really enjoyed getting to know her and her two daughters and have been living vicariously through them as they make their many purchases.<br />
<br />
Also this week, our neighbors had some sort of a fire, or smoke in their house (I haven't done my sleuthing yet to determine what happened), and our neighborhood was flooded with firetrucks, ambulances and police cars. Of course, nosy me, had to check out the scene.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJriFsAMXtbiZBtm_PM2ZrQtZ4DQ1rvyona0MWyjMT56T0CDcPsfw8S6hPFc7HdKWVGfppfO2kTzRvB6OrwiU1m3gbWPxWCIzHAGWtSNAKnj8SeLiHsF3vn8-oLI6ZJECgSk5o527C-c/s1600/Fire+Trucks.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJriFsAMXtbiZBtm_PM2ZrQtZ4DQ1rvyona0MWyjMT56T0CDcPsfw8S6hPFc7HdKWVGfppfO2kTzRvB6OrwiU1m3gbWPxWCIzHAGWtSNAKnj8SeLiHsF3vn8-oLI6ZJECgSk5o527C-c/s400/Fire+Trucks.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCXnrgFqTW1Ksg-BwHb9FDiAqoDJuSjlklTNl-owz0XgeE6eO9fasZvpQ8uQtT603Ih6dgLh7cls_7azIQrC5spmBfiMGhbBjtjBKWvn1z0l0QJe8zXJsdV6Ubso9V2GCLx13BKCsknc/s1600/Fire+Trucks1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlCXnrgFqTW1Ksg-BwHb9FDiAqoDJuSjlklTNl-owz0XgeE6eO9fasZvpQ8uQtT603Ih6dgLh7cls_7azIQrC5spmBfiMGhbBjtjBKWvn1z0l0QJe8zXJsdV6Ubso9V2GCLx13BKCsknc/s400/Fire+Trucks1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
It appears that everything is ok. I never saw any flames and the family stood right outside their door as the firemen went in and out, so it must have not been too bad. They did bring a giant fan inside to draw out the smoke, so something must have burned, but thankfully, it wasn't a fire.<br />
<br />
In other news, Dallas and I started teaching English classes at our Spanish church twice a week. Our first week got off to a rough start, with only a few attendees, but I think we will have a lot more this week, now that everyone knows that we are serious. And we.are.SERIOUS., <i>sometimes</i>. I think this will be a great way to become more involved with the Spanish community in our town and with the members of our church. Hopefully the classes will also draw in community members who are not active in a church, and we can plug them into ours.<br />
<br />
So, we've been very busy lately. But, we're still managing to squeeze a lot of fun into our schedules!<br />
<br />

<br />
I would not call myself the world's biggest baseball fan. I do not watch baseball on tv, or follow my team during the season, but I do love going to baseball stadiums. Being a part of the action. Experiencing such an old, American tradition. Singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," as if I were still a kid and jumping out of my seat to do the "wave." Sometimes I forget to watch the game, and spend more time clap, clap, clapping my hands or "Day-Oh!"ing to realize what's going on during the game.<br />
<br />
This weekend we traveled home to Georgia to visit our families. This trip also included tickets to watch Georgia's new minor league, the Gwinnett Braves, in action. I had never been to a Gwinnett Braves' game, even though Dallas and I could see the stadium from our old house. In fact, I had never been to a minor league baseball game at all. So, it was definitely exciting to see the new field and be in a smaller stadium than I am used to at Turner Field.<br />
<br />

Yes, she has packed up her things and headed south to the island of Saba to join her husband, Josh. Things won't be the same around here without her, and to be honest, I'm super sad that she's gone. But, at the same time, I am definitely glad that she and Josh are back together at last, after a long summer apart. Lauren definitely surprised me this summer with her ability to live life on her own. She is very strong and very smart, and handled things much better than I would have.<br />
<br />
Lauren is also quite the packer. Let's just say she didn't leave too much behind as she moved to the island. She brought two 50 lb suitcases, a 50+ lb carry-on, and a large shoulder bag. I don't know how she made it through the airport. She even managed to successfully pack her tv and sewing machine in her CARRY ON, as well as many, <i>many, MANY</i> other items. We did, however, have to take a box cutter to her Goodwill suitcase, as it was too large to fit on the plane. Crazy.<br />

Only to find the pizza ovens were broken. Not to worry, we quickly changed our minds and ordered pasta instead. We are very blessed in Lynchburg to have 2 J. Crew Clearance stores, and Lauren couldn't miss the opportunity to shop <i>ONE </i>more time before she left.<br />
