Jeff and Sarah Burnham have been two of our best friends since we moved to Lynchburg. Jeff is my brother-from-another-mother, who never fails to crack me up, and Sarah has such a sweet spirit who always puts up with Dallas, Jeff and me when we are at each other's throats, arguing over the rules of a board game, movie quotes or Christian theology. Right before we moved in, Jeff and Sarah found out they were going to have a baby! Dallas and I were able to be a part of the Burnham's life throughout their pregnancy.

Sarah and Jeff said that they wanted Dallas and I to come visit them in the hospital right after the baby was born. Sarah went into labor the morning of April 4th, and she continued to be in labor throughout the rest of the day. When I got home from work that night, we gave Jeff and call and asked him if they needed anything. He said he would love to get out of the hospital for a little while, and get something to eat. We met Jeff at McDonalds, and enjoyed spending these last few minutes with him before he became a father.
Jeff was so excited about his baby-to-be!
Dallas and Jeff, both so excited!
After eating at McDonalds, Dallas and I drove home and went to sleep with our cell phones beside our beds. Jeff gave us a call just before mid-night with the good news! Tristan Paul Burnham was born! We were so excited that everything had gone smoothly, and so happy for Jeff and Sarah. Sarah was feeling very tired after a long day of labor, and asked us to wait to visit until the next day. As soon as she was ready for visitors, Dallas and I drove to the hospital to visit this new little guy.
Dallas and I with Tristan. He was so tiny!
Even Dallas wanted to hold him!
Jeff, Sarah and Tristan have been such an important part of our lives here in Lychburg, and I am so happy we were able to be a part of such a special time in the Burnham's lives. The Burnham family is now heading to Africa to begin working with the people of Botswana. I am so sad to see them so, but happy to know that they are following the Lord's guidance for their lives and for the life of their new little one.
Tristan and I the day before the Burnhams left for their new lives in Botswana!
